Now that you got the weirdly funny but ultimately sad stuff out of the way, let me be serious for a minute. This debate was the Dems chance to admit what they couldn't and seize the moment to replace Biden for their party. The "all at once" orchestration of media and political voices is just too obvious. So who will the DNC put in next? My best guess is CA Gov Gavin Newsome, and whatdaya know he had about 1000 microphones in his face last night pre-debate. Please if there is a God, people do not let this guy be President. He is an empty headed disaster on two legs.

Watch the replay of www.therealdebate.com RFKJr. and witness a man who has what it takes to run our country. Yes, his voice is hard to listen to. I would argue what you heard Biden and Trump say is a hell of a lot more painful.

Freddie deBoer had a good piece on this: https://freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/the-kamala-conundrum

When Biden ran in 2020, he promised he would be a one-term placeholder president, and the DNC should've held him to it. Age was a concern four years ago, and if he is as vibrant as all the lib apparatchiks and media barnacles insisted he was, then a primary should've been held to battle test him. Truthfully, I don't know if there is another alternative. I love Bernie, but his time has passed, Kamala Harris may be even more uncharismatic and unpopular than Biden, and Gavin Newsome is very... meh.

The Dems had a golden opportunity to welcome Bernie in the fold in 2016, and through his energetic youthful base, could've brought in a surge of young blood and a new direction into the party, and they squandered it to preserve their geriatric corporatist status quo. They've done a horrible job of cultivating young talent and Biden in 2024 is the fruit of that labor.

If you genuinely believe that Trump/MAGA is a fascist threat to America (and I agree with this sentiment), then you should be fucking pissed at the Democrats for putting our nation in this situation.

I was fucking pissed at the DNC when they ambushed Bernie and frankly he let them. They lost me back then. If RFKJr hadn’t joined the race, I would not be voting at all.

Way to both sides it, fascist!

Credit where it's due, Biden did beat Medicare.

I didn't watch this shitshow. In fact, I was blissfully unaware it was transpiring until Uncle Joe texted me and asked for money in advance.

All I need to know is where the bombs are landing so I can drive to the detonation site.

I tuned out after the golf exchange. It’s for the best you didn’t see it. It was just sad. Joe feels like a Weekend at Bernie’s situation.

Yep, should have napped, instead of turning up with 'a sore throat', which he's now claiming by way an entirely unconvincing excuse.

Who's going to sit down and spell it out to Biden?

Yeah, frustrating that all the people saying it's a stutter and it's ableist to point out that he's decrepit are probably gonna double down. Someone needs to intervene because that was ugly.

American Democrats have forgotten the lesson of RBG, whose life and legacy were unassailable, except for that little glitch at the end when she could have retired for the last year or two of her exceptionally long and industrious life.

Imagine what might have been if she had.

Here we are again. The entire world looking to America for one person to do the right fucking thing.

The entertainment value was through the roof. In terms of actual arguments made I wouldn't know because the need to fact check everything is too much work for my European peanut brain. But the memes are outstanding and this post was too

I read that season 3 of The Bear is rubbish.

I'm liking it so far. My girlfriend loves the show, while I find it enjoyable but overrated.

I understand that the first episode of season 3 is nothing more than a compilation of scenes from the first two (short) seasons. I cringed just reading that. Cut and paste. They've run out of ideas already! Apparently the remaining episodes have no direction or purpose. They peaked and failed rapidly. A bit sad for fans of the show.
