There are two restaraunts in the same lot as my apartment building and I spent all summer ordering pizza online so I feel personally attacked by that last one. 😆 🤣
My wrapped holds absolutely zero surprises for me or anyone else. My top band was We Are Scientists by a considerable margin (35,849 minutes) followed by Black Honey, Royel Otis, Bad Nerves and The Libertines. I’ve seen all of those live at least twice this year so it’s a sensible list.
My top 5 songs were all We Are Scientists too (no shame there) but I did apparently listen to 2,911 different artists so there was a lot of new discovery too.
I love all the stats - and seeing everyone else’s although this year definitely felt lacklustre. I would also add that I back up my listening with physical purchases of the music I love. I want those bands to actually make some money!
Exactly why I started a vinyl collection and go to a financially inadvisable amount of shows. I'm thinking of switching to Apple Music so it's easier to catalog music in my library. Not sure how much I utilize Spotify's social features.
The cultural tradition of Spotify Wrapped gets more and more turgid and meaningless every year, and it will not stop until there’s a Daniel Ek balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
Spotify wrapped might be the only thing I simultaneously love/hate/point and laugh at.
Top 5 songs (one of these is not like the others):
Helmet- "Unsung"
Naughty By Nature- "19 Naughty III"
The Units- "High Pressure Days"
BODEGA- "City Is Taken"
Jawbreaker- "Pack It Up"
The Top 5 bands are a little more on-brand for me.
Wire
The New Pornographers
New Order
Fugazi
Nada Surf
It also says that I listened to over 2,700 artists this year, which is kinda cool. This tracks with the idea that I'm using Spotify for Discovery/sharing, and platforms like Qobuz for repeat listens.

Lol.
I've done it too. All of this is from personal experience.

At one point, I saw our mailman while walking Gizmo and he noted that he'd "be by in a minute with another record for [me]." lol.

Oh god that is just dystopic. It’ll play AI generated Christmas music in the background.
Variations on “All I Want for Christmas Is $0.003 Per Stream”
"All I Politely Request for Non-Denominational Holiday (Taylor's Version)"

Bands:
1. Zach Bryan
2. Alex G
3. Kanye West
4. Geese
5. Jay-Z
Songs:
1. "Mechanical Bull" - Zach Bryan
2. "Crusades" - Geese
3. "Right Back to It" - Waxahatchee & MJ Lenderman
4. "Apple Scruffs" - George Harrison
5. "Walk on By" - Isaac Hayes
I hit 4,077 songs and 915 artists, surprised I didn't get more given our albums project.
I think that's part of why Naughty By Nature made the Top 5; I went down a pretty deep rabbit hole of late 80s/early 90s hip hop at one point.
Am I the only person who doesn't use Spotify?
I’m thinking about switching to Apple Music. It’s internal library organization is so much better.
I like it for Discovery and sharing playlists, but love Qobuz for listening.
