The writing for the PJ Harvey “ Rid of Me” review is superb, hats off Sam! I had a similar experience to you the first time I heard ‘Low End Theory”. Some great music again from you two! I must check out Consolidated and Love Deluxe.

Let me know what you think of Consolidated!

We gotta keep the picks diverse!

I’m glad you’re enjoyed it!

I think that diversity in tastes reflects the way most people listen to music? Maybe it’s just me, but o don’t know anyone who listens to “just” pink, hip hop, etc.

"Mama's Gun" is a classic. Rocked it throughout college, and to this day.

Just listened to it last night. Hasn’t aged a bit.

Slanted and Enchanted paired with Low End Theory were my soundtrack of the early 90s.

Try pairing A Tribe Called Quest with Fela Kuti and Stevie Wonder!

I found Fela in early 2000s — love AfroBeat.

Love seeing Siamese Dream on the list! It was my intro to the band and is definitely one of my favorites of theirs.

Love Deluxe is such a gorgeous album. Not sure it’s my favorite of hers but it’s close.

I was a little late on PJ Harvey as I came in with 1995’s To Bring You My Love. Not sure I’ve ever listened to Rid of Me, will need to give it a listen.

Avalanches is another band to add to my “to listen” list. I’ve heard OF them but never listened to them so I’ll give this one a listen.

Siamese Dream is just incredible. I'm seeing PJ Harvey next Wednesday, so I'm gonna do a speed run through her discography this weekend.

You're in for a treat with Since I've Left You. I'd pay good money to be able to listen to it for the first time again.

OMG - Lawyers, Guns and Money is an anthem! Can't believe you didn't know Zevon's name, nor his broader output. (I've heard Werewolves of London too many times to like it.)

Yeah it's just one of those instances where I would recognize that song immediately because I've heard it so many times, but I never learned who actually sang it.

It wasn't really his norm, to my mind, easy to forget it was Zevon.

I still have Lawyers, Guns and Money in my favorites. 😁

Bit surprised that you can't find anything to like from Elvis Costello.

It’s not like I think he’s bad. He falls under the category of artists that I respect, but I don’t enjoy. I know his music is “good” and understand why he’s beloved and his albums are classics, I just don’t ever feel the urge to listen to him.

'Good year for the roses' still holds up. 🥀

I have been enjoying these lists. Obvious to me we are about the same age and have similar tastes. Love that Throwing Muses made the list, but it’s not their best album, so I assume there is another one coming further up.

I’m always happy to meet another Throwing Muses fan! Which one would you have gone with here?

I actually love Hunkpapa. I would rank their first album higher and my all time fav is the Real Ramona. Looking forward to rest of these lists.
